Puppy Neutering and Yard Improvement: A Personal Journey

Yesterday, I took my pup to be neutered. This was the pup my narcissist relative insisted on buying from a breeder. I did at least find a good responsible breeder and not one of the backyard breeders. Unfortunately this relative wanted him to be bred and didn’t want to put any work into the care of him. So he became MY DOG and I trained and cherished him and dreaded the day she wanted to buy a female to have puppies with. That day never came, as you know and we escaped the situation. The dog, the cat, and what other animals I could bring with me. The goats and geese and some chickens went to other homes I found for them. And I was able to make the appointment at a new vet and get my pup fixed. The Narcissist never even once mentioned or asked about him. That shows me exactly the level of emotional attachment she had to this little fur person.

While he was in surgery, I was able to get a few fencing fasteners for the little yard around Tiny that I started making with the T-posts I scrounged and the rolls of wire I brought with me from the farm. This will help keep him safer, as he wants to run to the landlords yard and fight with the much larger black Labradors everyday every chance he can get. I think it’s become a game to him. I’m working on some training for this and the neutering should help as well, I hope. The important thing is to keep everyone safe.

So I finished most of that this morning. I need a couple more things to make it feel finished but for now, it works and is giving my boy some more space to safely be outside. He hated the tie out, and so did I. Little by little we are making this place a little more comfortable. And as for the cost so far of this project, $10.73 for the fasteners. U nails and t-post fasteners. Extras will be useful elsewhere and the cost was easily covered by the plastic bottles I turned in to the bottle drop machines for $15.80.

Tomorrow I hope to start on deconstruction of wood pallets to use in making a chicken coop. This afternoon, I need to work on a painting someone asked to do for them.
