As expected, and the reason I moved to this area, the weather, though not exactly perfect and not exactly following the normal historical patterns the last few years, is mild mannered compared to what is going on with the rest of the country and even the world. That’s not to say there won’t be crazy storms and natural disasters. Because historically there always has been here, but in comparison, it’s paradise here compared to what is going on elsewhere. At least for now.
Our rainy season, slightly late, has for sure shown up now. The first of the season’s atmospheric rivers. But, as ARs go, it’s a mild one. A little wind, some rain, mild flooding in low spots but nothing to really worry about. Nothing that kept me from going to town today and stocking up on groceries.
It’s a day to rest, and read and just stick around inside with a bored water logged puppy.
I finally ordered a water filter that can remove lead and other heavy metals. So there will be a lot less bottled water in my future. I hated having to buy water like that but it was what was necessary at the time.
Here are the girls out for some foraging despite the rain. It’s a good time for them to find nightcrawlers that come to the surface when it’s wet. They actually eat very little in the way of feed as they get table scrapes from two households and forage during the day most days.
