Thawed

36 degrees, partly cloudy, still wind

I have my water back, since yesterday around noon. When I felt the wind stir a bit yesterday morning I had an idea that we would thaw a bit. It’s that combination of still unmoved air and clear skies that traps the cold.

Lack of running water was a bit of a pain but overall, not that bad. Not when it was easy to fill up jugs of water other places to use as needed. I will say this, next time I will have some paper plates, bowls, and utensils on hand because doing dishes with little water is a bit more of a pain. Doable. But a pain. They make compostable versions.

I did wait to start my seed sprouting until I had more easily available water for the twice a day rinse of seeds.

So I started this morning, by washing up the sprouter and getting the seeds soaking per the instructions on this one. Other models skip the pre soaking step that I’ve had so it’s probably fine to skip it but for this first time I’m following the guide to see if it makes any kind of difference in the end product and how long it takes.

You’ll have to forgive my wonky, tilted table. It collapsed a couple nights ago breaking from the wall of the camper. It’s precariously propped up for the moment until I can find an appropriately sized replacement to fit the space.

And while I was at the feed store, which I stopped by while I was in town to pay forward some kindness, I found myself accidentally adding another seed packet to the pile. I did get chicken feed, too.
