43°f, clear, calm

Despite the cold 21° start here it warmed up enough for me to spot a couple little bees out and about checking out the garden. I came home from work this morning and felt the need to get outside myself, so I planted a few trees (3 fruit trees and my little Yule tree) and I pruned the new ones. I planted a few primroses mainly because dad loved the primroses I had grown at the farm. I relaxed in the sun, to recharge. Then I pruned the grape vine that was here already. It had been planted but not really trained. So I had to really cut it back a lot to start training it. I had a bit of “help” from the barn kitten. The boy barn kitten I had gotten fixed and he’s at his new home. We will be keeping Freya because she smarter. Zeus was super friendly but had no fear of anything and was going to get himself killed here. He needed a pet home where he could be safe indoors rather than a working home. Freya is friendly, but she knows not to walk right up to danger. After that, I filled raised beds with more garden “junk.” That’s clippings and things that will slowly rot but help fill the beds. Tomorrow I will pick up soil to start finishing them off. It won’t be much longer before I can plant kale, onions, lettuce etc. and I want the beds to all be settled when it’s time to plant.
