Last night it began. A nice gentle wash that has continued today. It’s exactly what the land needs. Just over half an inch has fallen today at a rate that soaks into the parched earth and not just run off.
Of course this means I don’t have to feel guilty about not working a lot outside on my day off.

And I enjoy a nice walk with Rider in the rain and don’t feel guilty about lolly-gagging when it’s raining for some reason. It’s refreshing.

I don’t feel guilty about sitting inside and creating art and handicrafts despite several raised beds outside that need to be put together. Or the weeds that need pulling.
I don’t feel rushed and can enjoy the process of organizing inside. And of packaging up the seeds I’ve collected and dried from the garden to store for next year while binge watching shows on the laptop as I do so.

I do of course the necessary things. Feed, water, and clean the animals as needed. And the ducklings moved from the basement today, graduating to a pen inside the chicken run. They are mostly feathered now and it was time.
And even though mud comes with rain, there are a lot of good things it brings. Peaceful rest. Mushrooms. Washing dust off the trees. Making the garden happy without hose water. Rainbows.

As long as it’s not the crazy rain that seems so common these days in most of the country (and world wide).

I can feel the presence of Rider through the photo. Walking with him surely enjoyable, Olivia

It usually is! But sometimes he can be a reactive boy when it comes to other reactive dogs or dogs who stare at him. Cattle dogs have it in their genetics to not back down.
