Keeping everyone as cool as possible-

73°, 72%humidity, wind NW 2 mph, 79.73 barometer, 0” rain today 0.54” rain this month

It’s not so bad today. Though warm, it only got to 83°, much better than yesterday and the day before. Note that when it’s 98° outside here my little home got up to 103° inside and that was with a cold fan running.

This of course makes me feel like crud.

But I made sure the garden and the critters in our care survived it just fine. And I’m sure people in hotter areas are laughing. I grew up in a much hotter area. I would have laughed at my complaining 20 years ago too. But I can’t handle it now and it’s one reason I moved north here.

So I took my dog to the shore (20 degrees cooler there) yesterday so that he could get a break and play in the ocean to cool down and I kept the garden watered and shaded with cloth (the plants are not used to heat either here), and harvested as needed so that goodies would not get cooked.

In a couple days what’s left of the weather service is predicting some rain. It’s much needed.

One thing I’m really trying to work on is to plant or harvest something daily. It’s a goal to be continually growing something even in the off times of year.

P.s. if you can’t tell from the pictures, it’s starting to feel and look more like a homestead every day and that makes me happy. Felt like such a slow start last year while I was grieving the loss of everything.
