The human body can only handle so much. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/aug/13/death-toll-extreme-heat-arizona-county?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR7zt_hUKB86Qzyb7tLNo-VlvZTKJdealg9VQGk9SKEcd0l78r3-isOZZcX-Tg_aem_tJp32Wbz6lNluRIimunzWg And Arizona is a place typically known for being hot. People living there generally know how to deal with the heat and the majority have air conditioning. But heat like what is now being experienced is more dangerous. Not just for humans. Animals and plants alsoContinueContinue reading “Heat Kills”

Ticks and Greenbeans
Much cooler today and cloudy. We got a little light rain this morning. Sprinkles really. But I was surprised to find myself with a tick. Now this area doesn’t get ticks much. I haven’t seen one in many years. A sign it’s getting hotter here? A climate change sign? One of the issues with warmingContinueContinue reading “Ticks and Greenbeans”
Malaria wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card.
Malaria acquired in Washington State. The state I call home. Yes. We have mosquitoes but we typically don’t have tropical diseases. This could be a symptom of a warming world. https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/health/malaria-possibly-contracted-in-wa-would-be-states-first-case/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR5BjhgbJgXmAYxr0Cozfz16m6iaQG4EPCp2gLn2YtGg5uXTYV1UOpSAFU3lXw_aem_uzAiEBTaIChxNAeGn43-ug
Tsunami Warning
(Upgraded now to Advisory) There is a warning for the coast here. I’m not quite in the zone (although when I’m at work, I’d be in the zone.) I know not exactly “weather” but something to always be ready for regardless. The ducklings created their own waves today, having fun chasing and eating bits ofContinueContinue reading “Tsunami Warning”
The best is yet to come-
https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1Fr2JtARTQ/?mibextid=wwXIfr Thanks, USA. Going to be interesting this hurricane season, I’m sure.
In odd weather news:
Batty bats! https://news.autodailyz.com/15099/?fbclid=IwQ0xDSwLw8HJleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHiNOAWV9DR1QtZV5ajD_HgFh7i1I5rcJugA6kzbMcu6lXdX2m8n4QkdQguDv_aem_oKSaKMiRq0vYUwzMLKkZHQ#mdjg1mkgbp9hlvg3twf The critters get disoriented by changes in pressure systems. Who knew?
Extreme Heat is bad for your long term health.
@ 11:33am, 62.6°F, 80% humidity, ENE 1.3 mph wind, partly cloudy, rain 0.01”, monthly 0.01” I’ve seen this before, from other sources if you are one of those CNN haters (because the red hats told you to hate it while trusting faux news that had to pay out a huge sum in court for beingContinueContinue reading “Extreme Heat is bad for your long term health.”
I am not the only one who notices.
Weather apps. IMHO have never been that reliable in the rural areas like where I live. As the apps draw information from more populated areas, they don’t record the trends as well. General information is usually ok, like if a wide spread storm approaches but the nuances of micro climates are not picked up. ApparentlyContinueContinue reading “I am not the only one who notices.”
It’s Up!
I got my personal weather station up and running today as the mounting pole finally arrived. Now I don’t have to rely on questionable apps for my weather data. Meanwhile I also set up a compost bin for the garden. My pod people already had one they made but it’s a long walk to itContinueContinue reading “It’s Up!”
Live Wire and Accurate Weather
@ 9:15 am 61°F, Cloudy, SW 2 mph wind, 0” rain Zero. Zero inches of rain the apps claim. Yet all day yesterday moisture dribbled from the sky. I had to use windshield wipers regularly and I was definitely wet after finishing the set up of the electric net fencing. Muddy paw prints on floorContinueContinue reading “Live Wire and Accurate Weather”
