@ 8 p.m. 63*, mostly sunny, NW 8 mph Wind, O rain. Fire up the highway a bit.
Warm but not hot. Perfect temperature. A good dry day to get things done. I made a cattle panel arch and planted a hardy kiwi plant at the base. Mulched it with cardboard and grass clippings.
I fiddled with electric poultry netting, getting it set up. Will be getting new chickens soon.
Did some art- finished a painting. That always feels good. I can paint outside this time of year. Better light and space outside on a folding table out on my “porch” made out of pallets.
Also got all my bedding washed. The dog brings in sooo much dirt that I have to wash them often. It’s something that really bothers me, all this dirt in this tiny place. But it’s part of life here so I deal with it the best I can. dirt is better then the onslaught of ants I get from time to time.
I do worm composting now. I started a few weeks ago. If it does really well, and it seems to be, I can do many bins and sell extra worms and castings. It’s something that doesn’t take too much effort. I’m also doing an experiment with a small container pond with native water plants that are edible like wapato and cattail. Other non edible native plants too but extras of those can be fed to chickens (like the duck weed and starwort.)
I am having an issue with deer that is very frustrating. Let me tell you, Irish spring soap DOES NOT KEEP DEER AWAY. That’s a myth.
