Ticks and Greenbeans

Much cooler today and cloudy. We got a little light rain this morning. Sprinkles really. But I was surprised to find myself with a tick. Now this area doesn’t get ticks much. I haven’t seen one in many years.

A sign it’s getting hotter here? A climate change sign?

One of the issues with warming global temps is that disease carrying critters are moving into areas that historically they were not.

I had enjoyed the tick free lifestyle since moving here to this area 7 years ago. Now I’m going to have to start wearing repellent and doing tick checks daily again.

I did not think to get a picture of the little tick, only to destroy it as soon as I saw it.

But I did at least get a picture of my delicious green beans for lunch from the garden. You cannot get any fresher than this. The flat Italian pole beans are my favorite 🥰. I highly recommend them. So tender and succulent. Nothing can compare.

I did make my way to town to stock up on things at Costco today. I have a gut feeling that there is going to be some kind of trouble and I don’t think it’s the unusual August atmospheric river heading our way that is causing this gut feeling. Could be several things my subconscious is picking up but I don’t like to ignore the gut intuition. I don’t have much room in a 15’ trailer to stock up on anything and when I do it looks like I’m a hoarder with things stacked up where ever I can stack them.

I laugh at myself because I can’t help but to once again splurge on plants, the fall bulbs are out at Costco. I helped myself to a bag of crocus.

And then when I was home in the late afternoon, a package of iris rhizomes arrived. I have more coming but these 4 are the first. Iris is one of my favorite flowers on earth. 🥰 I ordered these a while back. Hey, I may as well have some pretty hardy flowers to enjoy while the crap hits the fan in the world.

  1. The MIdwest/US has an increase in ticks due to the overpopulation of deer. Lyme disease is debilitating. I know from experience, so please spray yourself with an organic repellent.

    Your beans look great.

    1. Yes! My bestie went to town today so I had her pick me up some spray repellent. Treated all the dogs and the kitty with preventative as well and hoping it’s just a bad year.
