7:20am, 61°F, light rain
August first is starting out with an interesting weather day in my state. Half the state is under a PDS fire watch or is already burning, and the other half is wet, with a few parts above 7000 feet potentially seeing snow. There will be wind too, for the entire state to various degrees.
All of July, we got 0.64” of rain in my exact location. August and September are the typically driest months, as we are technically a Mediterranean climate but I honestly think it barely is one considering I’ve lived in Mediterranean climates most of my life. I also see that the months this year, weather wise have been a little backwards on timing of normal weather patterns.
As long as this rain is over by midweek I’ll be happy. I’m getting a roof over my living structure, no more leaks! No more ugly tarps flapping around. And then I can work on getting my little yard sorted, deal with the mud and weeds that I needed to wait on. the mud I’m dealing with now (thanks mainly to my sweet wild little blue heeler) will be eventually worth it.
Which will mean less mud and dirt inside eventually.
Which will make my life seem better.
Small victories. Expensive victories. But what folks don’t realize, being disabled and poor is very expensive. It costs us more because we have to hire some things done. Things we are unable to physically do.
And it costs us more when we get hurt from attempting to do things. In time, energy, and money. And it becomes a never ending cycle unless we are lucky to live with understanding family or we die.
